Intercultural library

The sound of foreign languages is a popular soundtrack of exploration travels around the world. Language transmits culture, mentality of the population and the identity of a person of a country. People who have been living in Germany as a migrant for a longer time would also like to use the mother tongue and may even want to teach it to his or her children.

The city‘s public library offers media in German and in other languages, starting with books and audiobooks, over DVDs and software for any age. Anyone, who wants to use and advance foreign language skills, can take the offered language classes.

The city‘s public library has ten branches in Bonn and is free to use to read magazines, newspapers and books. In order to lend something, one has to register under Anmelden. It is necessary to show the ID-card or passport with a certificate of residency in order to register.

Borrowing media for children (e.g. picture books and games) is free of charge. All other media cost a lending fee or can be lent with a yearly card.

The city‘s public library offers connection to the internet (for a fee) and to databases.
