Pregnancy and birth

An new and exiting stage in one‘s life starts with a pregnancy. Immediately, many questions arise. Where can I give birth to my child? Which midwife or doctor can help me with the preparations and birth? What fees does the health insurance cover? What else do I have to pay attention to?

Do not be afraid: pregnant women have a right for sufficient medical examinations and advice by law. The cost is covered by statutory health insurance.

Risk by tobacco and alcohol

During pregnancy, tobacco and alcohol put the development of the child at risk. Smoking during pregnancy can have severe implications for the baby before and after birth, because the toxic substances of cigarettes invade the placenta. Smoking raises the risk of premature delivery and miscarriage. These dangers are also in place if the pregnant woman is around other people who smoke.
